Durga Motors, the dealer partners for Tata Motors in Goa have officially launched the Harrier SUV in Goa. The SUV was unvilevled by Labour and IT minister Rohan Khaunte amongst other dignitaries and dealer staff.
The Harrier comes in 4 variants – XE, XM, XT and XZ. The SUV measures 4598 in length, 1894 in width and 1706 in height. The numbers of the wheelbase measuring 2741mm and a steady ground clearance of 2055mm means the Harrier has enough space on the inside and ability to tackle mild off-roading as well. The Harrier rides on R17 alloy wheels wrapped in 235/65 section tyres.
Born out of legendary pedigree of Jaguar Land Rover’s D8 platform, the Harrier stays quite close to the H5X concept in terms of design. The face wears sleek looking LED daytime running lamps which also doubles up as the indicators and fuses into the honeycomb grille. The main headlamp though sits lower down and contained inside the fog lamp housing. Moving sideways, the Harrier flaunts a floating roof with bold chrome finisher and flared wheel arches. However at the back the 3-d effect taillamps get connected by a black plastic element that spreads around the tailgate and it also gets Harrier branding in bold lettering.
The interior of the SUV comes finished in top quality with the use of high quality materials. The dashboard sports a clutter free look and comes in black and brown colour scheme with wood finish running the length of the dashboard. Taking pride on the centre console is an 8.8 inch floating touchscreen infotainment system that comes with a 9-speakers and Acoustis tuned by JBL. The instrument cluster on the other hand gets a sporty touch and houses a 7 inch colour display in between the dials for everyday information. Overall the fit and finish of the dashboard is top notch and even bits like the door pads have a tough build feeling to it.
On the features front, the Harrier comes with Xenon projector headlamps, front fog lamps with cornering function, shark fin antenna, R17 alloy wheels, reverse parking camera, electrical adjust for wing mirrors, 8-way adjustable driver seat, cruise control, rain sensing wipers and rear armrest with cupholders.
Under its hood is a Kyrotec 2.2 litre diesel motor that produces 140 PS at 3750rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 1750-2500rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual only for now, while an automatic sourced from Hyundai is in the pipeline for the future. Speaking about safety side, the Harrier gets 6 airbags, ABS, EBD and ESP, hill hold control, corner stability control, electronic traction control and ISOFIX child anchorage points.
Suspension duty is handled by Independent, lower wishbone McPherson at the front and Semi independent twist beam at the rear. Braking boost is provided by disc at the front and drum at the rear.
Tata Motors is offering the Harrier with 5 exciting paint schemes namely – Orcus white, Ariel silver, Telestio grey, Calisto copper and Thermisto gold.
