Ford India has announced a massive recall of rumoured 50,000 units from the Indian market. The recall directly affects the Figo, Aspire, Freestyle and the old generation Endeavour.
The Figo, Aspire and Freestyle are being recalled for faulty battery wiring harness management system that could lead to excessive engine heat and prompt a short circuit. The models affected were produced between September 2017 and April 2019.
The Endeavour on the other hand involves models produced between Febuary 2004 to September 2014. The automaker has recalled the SUV for a inspecting the faulty takata airbags and the number of units could go up-to 22,000 units.
Ford says “the announcement is part of the voluntary recall to inspect the affected models for possible faults. The customers of affected models will be contacted individually and asked to bring their vehicle to the nearest convient Ford dealership to inspect and rectify the faults.”

The Figo, Aspire and Freestyle are powered by 1.2 litre petrol and a 1.5 litre diesel engine however with different states of tune. The 1.2 litre petrol produces 96ps and 120 Nm of torque and the diesel 1.5 litre churns out 100 ps and 215 Nm of torque.
Transmission options however include a 5-speed manual across the range, However the Figo also gets an additional top end Titanium Blu trim that employs a 1.5 litre petrol engine and churns out 123 ps and 150 Nm of torque, this engine comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission only.
