Honda two wheelers India created quite a stir when it released a teaser revealing that a BS6 scooter was headed to our shores. Though a heavy debate was created in the market, it was evident that the mystery scooter would indeed be from the hugely successful Activa family.

However putting an end to all the rumours on which bike would get the BS6 treatment, Honda has finally showcased its first BS6 scooter which is without any doubt the Activa 125. But Mind you new scooter has only been unvilevled for now and won’t be on sale until late 2019 or early 2020.

The new Activa 125 FI shares the basic body and styling with the current Activa 125 but receives a handful of cosmetic changes that let it stand out from the crowd. The differences include a redesigned LED headlamp that now comes with a signature LED position lamp, a thick chrome strip along the side fenders and alloy wheels. Honda has also cleverly integrated glove box and an external fuel filler cap for ease of convenience. Also part of the update is the digital analog instrument cluster that gives out essential information such as real time fuel efficiency, distances to empty and also gets a side stand indicator.

The Activa 125 FI was spotted on test earlier this year

Mechanically the Activa BS6 is powered by the same 125cc heart but produces 8.4bhp and 10.54 Nm of torque and comes mated to a CVT transmission. The bigger updates though come from the addition of idle start/stop, advanced fuel injection and silent start.

The idle start/stop system eliminates wasting of precious fuel while waiting at signals or traffic jams. The advanced fuel injection system feeds optimum fuel into the cylinder as per spontaneous feedback from the sensors and the Silent start reduces cranking noise experience during starting of the bike. It also comes with a telescopic unit with a disc brake as well.

The Honda Activa 125 FI takes on the Aprilla Strom 125, TVS Ntorq Hero Destini and Maestro 125 and the Burgman Street. Expect a marginal pricing to be announced when it enters the market by end of this year or early next year.
