Hyundai Grand i10 Nios rolls out of the production line

Hyundai is gearing up to launch the Grand i10 Nios and has already begun production of the car. The first car was rolled out of the automaker’s plant in Sriperumbudur near Chennai.

Set to be launched globally on the of the 20th of August, the new Grand Nios carries on with the legacy set by the Grand i10 with sporty new looks, even more roomier interior, lengthy feature list and powerful engines all packaged in a better deal.

Commenting on the first production roll-out, Mr. S S Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, “This is a proud moment for us at Hyundai, with over 2.7 million happy customers worldwide the i10 brand (i10 and GRAND i10) has been one of the most loved hatchbacks. And today we are set to create history again with the Global First – roll out of 3rd Generation GRAND i10 NIOS, which will set new benchmarks in the hatchback segment while creating brilliant ownership experience for our customers”.

Mechanically the Grand i10 Nios will be powered by the same 1.2 litre petrol and diesel engines but will be reworked to offer better power and torque in an aim deliver better performance and mileage. Transmission options are likely to include the same 5-speed manual and AMT as standard. The icing on the cake though is that the engines will be BS6 right from the day of launch.

The Hyundai Nios is expected to be positioned above the current Grand i10 and the Elite i20 which also means pricing could stay at a premium. Nevertheless the Grand i10 Nios will go head to head with the Toyota liva, Tata tiago, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Ford figo.
