Hyundai launches Santro celebration edition

Riding on the success of the Santro brand, Korean car maker has kicked off celebrations to commemorate the first year of launching the Santro brand in the Indian market. The Santro was introduced on the 23rd October, almost four years after it was discontinued from the market.

Based on the mid level Sportz trim, the new first anniversary edition of the Santro is available as a limited edition model and can be had in manual and AMT. Buyers can also choose between two exterior paint schemes – Aqua Teal and Polar white.

Commenting on the launch of the Special Anniversary Edition of the New SANTRO, Mr. Vikas Jain, National Sales Head, Hyundai Motor India Limited said, “The SANTRO is a prestigious and legendary brand in India that has gone on to craft numerous milestones over the last two decades. To celebrate the First Anniversary of SANTRO, we are glad to announce the Anniversary Edition of SANTRO with various new features further enhancing customer experience and happiness. The Anniversary edition will entice our customers and continue to strengthen SANTRO’s legacy on the pillars of Global Technology, Stylish Design and World Class Features.

Changes on the Santro celebration edition include black painted wing mirrors, sporty black painted door handles and gunmetal wheel covers. On the inside it gets interior colour pack with Aqua Teal inserts and new seat fabric design based on Santro standard pack. It also gets glossy black roof rails, Anniversary edition emblem, rear chrome garnish and body side moulding.

Powering the car however the same 1.1 litre motor is producing 69hp and 99 Nm of torque, while the CNG powered car puts out 59 PS and 8.6 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual for both the petrol and AMT, while the CNG powered Santro comes only in a 5-speed manual. Hyundai claims 20.13 kmpl for the petrol Santro and 30.5kgm for the CNG powered version.

The Hyundai Santro rivals the Maruti Suzuki Alto, Datsun GO and Maruti Suzuki S-Presso.
