Hyundai’s micro SUV has been spotted doing final testing in production ready form hinting at a nearing launch timeline. The new micro SUV will slot below the Venue compact SUV and rival the upcoming Tata HBX.
The micro SUV segment or AX1 gets super compact proportions and will share its platform with the Grand i10. The production ready test mule reveals quite a few interesting details such as split headlight layout, LED turn indicators, circular LED daytime running lights, high flat bonnet, sqaurish honeycomb front grille, circular LED taillights along with round reversing lights mounted lower down in the bumper. The Hyundai AX1 also gets roof rails, shark fin antenna, skid plates at front and large stylish alloy wheels.
On the interior front the Hyundai AX1 micro SUV has not yet revealed anything on the latest spy images, however going by the company’s good gesture of loading up its cars with tons of features and tech. The Hyundai micro SUV will also be safe to be expected to be loaded with features and technology.
Powering the micro SUV will be a 1.2 litre turbo petrol engine from the Grand i10 with higher power and torque figures. Transmission options are expected to include manual, automatic and iMT as well.
An expected launch of mid 2021 or early 2022 could be easy to expect however the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic could delay things further. Pricing could be lower than that of the Venue with a few variants overlapping each other here and there.
