As the media preview date nears on 9th of October, Auto Goa has once again got exclusive news of this most awaited hatchback.
The 2018 Hyundai Santro will be available in two fuel options, Petrol and CNG with both engines drawing power from the tried and tested 1.1 litre motor which will be BS6 compliant. Transmission options will range from a 5-speed manual and AMT as well.
The new hatchback will be underpinned by the old i10’s HA platform that will be heavily reworked to meet newer crash regulations and will be available in 5 variants Era, Magna, Sportz, Sportz (0) and Asta.
Speaking of the design, the up-coming AH2 hatchback will sport the tallboy design that the Santro was known for, along with some interesting design highlights like clamshell bonnet, sweptback headlamps, large DLO and high set fog lamps. The Hyundai Santro is also expected to wear the 2019 Elantra like upfront a design feature that will slowly trickle down into other Hyundai’s as well.
Hyundai will not compromise on the safety quotient as the Korean brand will be offering ABS with EBD as standard right from the base Era variant, while dual front airbags will be offered from Magna onwards.
Hyundai hasn’t revealed anything about the interior yet, but going by the test mules spied, we expect a spacious interior with good headroom and legroom as well. It will also come with first in class rear A/C vents, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well.
Hyundai is expected to launch the new Santro on 23rd of October which is when prices will be revealed, However reliable sources have hinted at Rs 3.5 lakhs (ex showroom), while the top variants will retail for around 4-5 lakhs price range.
