India bound Skoda Karoq debuts at 2020 Auto Expo

Skoda may have had the Vision IN concept and the Octavia VRS to stand out at the ongoing 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. But another model that starred at the renowned motor show was the much anticipated Karoq.

The Karoq evokes much of its styling cues from the larger and fleshier Kodiaq and looks great in the metal. It gets similar treatment at the front with the familiar Skoda butterfly grille, crystalline LED headlamps along with neat lines. However the Karoq has a shorter wheelbase and is a 5-seater unlike the 7-seater layout on the Kodiaq. Also good to look at are the well crafted angular LED taillamps and R17-inch alloy wheels.

The interior of the Karoq once again takes inspiration from the Kodiaq with a neat and very businesslike layout. There’s a black and beige colour scheme along with subtle chrome touches that lend an upmarket feel to the cabin. In terms of equipment it gets a 8-inch touchscreen inforrtainment system, a virtual cockpit for the instrument console, a panoramic sunroof and much more.

Powering the Karoq is a 1.5 litre Tsi petrol with 150hp and 250Nm of torque on tap; transmission options however include a 7-speed DSG transmission for now. A diesel motor however is unlikely to power the Karoq, while a hybrid cannot be ruled out.

The Skoda Karoq could go on sale sometime in April this year; however it will take on the MG Hector, Jeep Compass. Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV 5OO.
