Almost a decade after the last product was rolled, one of the best celebrated two wheeler brands Jawa motorcycles have returned to the country and has launched the Jawa priced at Rs 1, 64,000 and Jawa Forty two priced at Rs 1, 55,000 (Ex showroom Delhi).
The Jawa brand has been brought to life by Classic legends Pvt ltd, a subsidiary of the Mahindra group which owns 60 per cent stake in the venture. The remaining holding belongs to an entrepreneur Anupam Thareja and Boman Irani, son of Rustom Irani, the founder of Ideal Jawa.
The Jawa motorcycle is a 300cc retro styled cruiser and resembles the original Jawa with a maroon and golden paint job. The Forty Two on the other hand comes with blackened single pod cluster, crankcase, forks and mirrors. Jawa Forty Two also receives a flatter handle bar to cater to the younger aspirational riders.
Mechanically the bikes are powered by 293cc liquid cooled BS6 engine that produces 27 bhp and 28 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. Braking power in the Jawa motorcycles come from single disc and brembo callipers along with single channel ABS.
Jawa has also stated that the bikes et 18-inch rims wrapped in MRF Nylongrip tyres having 90-section width upfront and 120-section at the rear. The Jawa motorcycles also come with a remembrance from the past with the presence of under tank mounted handlebar lock and the very iconic twin exhausts.
The Jawa is offered in 3 colours Black, Grey and Maroon. The Jawa 42 comes in six colours – Halley Teal, Galatic Green, Starlight Blue, Lumos lime, Nebula blue and Comet red.
Jawa has said that the brand will have 105 independent dealerships across India with 64 being set up soon. We hope Jawa sets up store in Goa soon as there is a big market for the iconic motorcycles.
