Kia Motors has revealed a first teaser image of its new Compact SUV. The automaker will be revealing the Compact SUV to the Indian market on the 20th of June while the official launch will happen sometime later.
The production version of the Compact SUV is expected to stay pretty close to the SP 21 concept show earlier this year at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. This has been proved to the point by the image released by Kia Motors, where in the SUV is seen with the tiger nose upfront and LED headlamps that merge into the radiator grille, while the bumper gets a slim air dam that is connected to the vertically placed daytime running lights. The side profile has not been revealed yet but we expect a long wheelbase complemented by chunky wheel arches and roof rails. At the rear there are uniquely placed LED taillamps, a large skid plate and faux dual exhausts outlets on either sides.
Other design highlights include robust hood, strong and sophisticated character line on the front bumper and a glasshouse which tapers towards the rear along with a metallic bumper at the back. The LED headlamps lend an imposing stance and feature a three dimension light graphic and a highly technical diamond pattern at their trailing edges. The same design also echoes in the LED taillamps in the rear.
Kia says “the Compact SUV offers the space and capabilities of a traditional SUV in a compact package” which means the compact SUV will have credential off-roading abilities.
The interior is still under wraps but we expect a spacious cabin with high quality materials. A large touchscreen is set to handle infortainment duties and will come loaded with features and tech. Under its hood, the Kia Compact SUV will be powered by a 1.5 litre petrol engine option along with a diesel, while gearbox choices will include manual and automatic as well.
Byung Chul Juh, Head of KIA Styling at KIA Motors Corporation, comments: “We have created a car which stands out everywhere, from the city to the countryside. Its robust yet sporty design will be matched by a wide range of features and technologies that are universally suited to younger buyers in markets around the world. Our new small SUV is a proposition that no other car in its class will match.”
