KTM launched the Duke 790 way back in September; however the motorcycle took its own sweet time to ride into Goan showrooms. Nevertheless now that the bike has finally come, let’s take a look at it.
The KTM Duke 790 looks aggressive especially in the hunkered down stance, while it does look to have taken inspiration from the bigger 1290 Super Duke R, The 790 Duke does share a lot from the smaller 390 Duke and that is particularly true of the LED headlight that looks straight of the Duke 390. The 14-litre fuel tank however has a different design and it also gets a TFT display for the instrument panel.
Powering the motorcycle is a 799cc parallel twin motor that makes 105bhp and 86Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed transmission mated to a mechanically operated clutch and a quickshifter (for both upshfits and downshifts). The bike also gets 5 riding modes – Rain, Street, track and sport. Also on offer traction control, wheelie control and launch control.
Suspension duties are handled by 43mm USD fork at the front and 150mm Monoshock at the rear. Braking power is supplied by 300mm dual disc at front and a 240mm disc at the rear.
The KTM Duke 790 rides on 120/70 ZR17 rubber at front and 180/55 ZR17 rubber at the rear. Priced at Rs 8.64 lakhs (ex showroom), it’s a pretty expensive motorcycle, however the KTM Duke 790 gets a lot of going for it.
