Maruti Suzuki has launched the new Ciaz facelift priced at Rs 8.19 Lakhs ( ex showroom) The new Ciaz packs in an updated design and a new petrol engine with SHVS Smart Hybrid system. The sedan is available in four variants Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha.
The new family sedan comes with a redesigned front grille that is flanked by the new auto headlamps which gets projectors and LED daytime running lamps. The bumper is all new as well and features LED fog lights with thick chrome surround. The side profile lies unchanged but the 16-inch alloy wheels get dual tone Metallic and Pebble grey finish. The rear has seen minimal changes with redesigned taillamp clusters that get LED elements in them and an updated bumper with chrome surround for the reflectors.
Maruti Suzuki has also worked on making the interiors look and feel premium by enriching it with new Birch blonde wood grain accents and satin chrome highlights on the dashboard and door trims. Further more the updated Ciaz also sports a new instrument cluster with Eco illumination for the speedometer and Baleno like 4.2 inch MID screen.
Features of the 2018 A3 Segment sedan include electrically foldable exterior mirrors, 510 litres boot space, Push button start/stop, rear sunblind, automatic headlamps with levelling and Smartplay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror link.
Under the hood the new Ciaz is powered by an all new K15B 1.5 litre petrol engine that produces 77KW @ 6000rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 4400rpm. The engine is coupled to a Smart hybrid SHVS system, the system includes Lithium –ion battery pack that features dual battery system and gets idle start/stop, torque assist function and brake energy regeneration. The 1.3 litre diesel lies unchanged and will eventually be replaced by an all new 1.5 litre diesel engine said to be under development.
Transmission options include 5-speed manual for both petrol and diesel, while the 4-speed automatic is limited to the petrol motor only. The new Ciaz SHVS delivers an ARAI claimed mileage of 21.56 Kmpl in petrol manual and 28.09 kmpl in diesel manual.
Maruti Suzuki has also boosted the safety quotient in the new Ciaz by adding new safety features like seat belt reminder, speed warning system that gives out a single beep at 80kmph and doubles the sound at speeds above 120kmph. It also gets Reverse parking camera with sensors, Electronic stability with hill hold and rear defogger.
The 2018 Ciaz can be purchased in 7 exciting colours that include Pearl midnight black, Nexa blue, Pearl sangria red, metallic premium silver, Pearl snow white, Pearl metallic dignity brown and Metallic magma grey. Speaking of the competition, the facelifted Ciaz goes head on with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Toyota Yaris.
