Morris Garages has finally launched the Hector Plus in the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 13, 48,800 (ex showroom prices). The new 6 seater offering was also subsequently launched in Goa as well.
Built at the company’s plant in Halol Gujarat, the new Hector Plus gets a longer wheelbase measuring in at 2750mm, length of 4720mm, 1835mm width and height of 1760mm. it comes in 4 variants sharp, style, super, smart and sharp and rides on 215/60 R17 tyres at front and rear.
Visually the Hector Plus looks no different from the standard 5 seat Hector; however there are some unique styling bits to help differentiate it from the regular car. It gets new pattern LED daytime running lights, new LED headlights with sequential turn indicators and LED taillights. There’s also new front and rear bumpers, new chrome finished front grille along with LED front and rear fog lights.
The interior is where the Hector Plus gets its main differences and meaning of its Plus suffix. It now comes with three rows of seats which has captain chairs in the middle row and a bench at the rear. The cabin also comes kitted with tan leather which extends to the dashboard, door pads and seats which feel far livelier than the all black theme the standard car follows.
Talking about features, the Hector Plus receives the same kit as the standard car which always came packed with tech like 10.4 inch touchscreen entertainment system with I-smart and the rest, a Panoramic sunroof and a hold lot more. A rather infesting addition is the handsfree tailgate function with swipe foot to open and close, multicolour ambient lighting that is unique only to the Hector Plus.
Mechanically the Hector Plus from MG will most likely be powered by the same engine options. The line-up ranges from standard 1.5 litre turbo petrol with 143hp and 250Nm of torque, a 48v mild hybrid paired to a 1.5 litre petrol with 141hp and 250Nm of torque and a 2.0 litre diesel with 170hp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission options include 6-speed manual for hybrid petrol and the diesel, while the turbo petrol also gets an automatic transmission option.
The MG Hector Plus although has no direct competition at the moment takes aim at many upcoming 7-seater SUV’s, these include the Jeep Compass 7-seater, Tata Gravitas and the Hyundai Creta 7-seater.
