Morris Garages Gloster launched

Morris Garages has launched its third model for the Indian market the Gloster. The Gloster from MG has been priced at Rs 28.90 lakhs (ex showroom); while bookings are open for Rs 1 lakh.

The MG Gloster measures 4985mm in length, 1926mm in width, 1867mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2950mm. The Gloster rides on 255/55 R19 alloy wheels at front and back and comes with 19-inch alloy wheels as standard.

Buyers can buy MG’s full size flagship in four variants – Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy. Also on offer are 5 paint schemes – Agate Red, Metal black, Metal Ash and Warm white.

The cabin comes finished in full black treatment with tan leather luxury brown upholstery and dull aluminum inserts. The cabin gets three rows of seating with front two captain and rear bench layout. A good thing though here are side pillar mounted A/C vents on the second and third row. Space has also been paid full attention in the Gloster with the option to fold the third row flat and open up space to liters from the liters with all three rows up.

The centre of the dashboard takes attraction by a large 12.3 inch touchscreen infotainment system. The system comes loaded with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, USB connectivity, FM, Bluetooth and i-smart 2.0. The I-smart 2.0 itself comes loaded with several connectivity features such as internet based apps, remote control functioning of the car, sending out malfunctioning alerts and several more tech.

In terms of features it comes fully loaded to the gills with LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, 12-way powered seats, heated front seats, Pananormic sunroof, powered wing mirrors, powered tailgate, 3-zone climate control, wireless charging, 12-speaker system, 8-inch MID screen and 12.3 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android auto and connected car tech on offer.

The Gloster also comes with ADAS autonomous level 1 tech, this brings tech like forward collision warning, lane departure warning, blind spot detection, autonomous emergency braking, handsfree parking, adaptive cruise control and a 360 degree camera.

Powering the mammoth SUV are two engine options, a 2.0 litre four cylinder turbo diesel with 163hp and 375Nm of torque and a 2.0 litre twin turbo 2.0 litre motor with 218hp and 480Nm of torque.

Transmission options however are limited to just an 8-speed automatic for both engine options. The 4wd with off road modes is offered on higher trims with the twin turbo engine only. Speaking of which the 4wd off road modes include eco, auto, mud, sport  rock, sand, snow,

On the safety front it gets hill descent control, rear disc brakes, electro mechanical differential,  electric parking brake with auto hold, driver fatigue reminder, reverse parking camera, front parking sensors, rear defogger, speed sensing auto door lock, speed warning alert, 3-point for all seatbelts, ISOFIX child seat anchorage and ABS with EBD and brake assist.

Talking about competition, the MG Gloster rivals the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour as its only rivals for now.
