BMW’s new seventh generation 3-series sedan has arrived in Goa priced at Rs 41.40 lakhs (ex showroom prices). The new 3-series sedan is built at BMW’s Chakan plant and is available in two engine options and three trim levels.
Based on the CLAR platform, the sedan is now wider and longer than before, it measures 4,709mm in length, 1,827mm in width, 1,472mm in height and uses a wheelbase of 2,851mm.
The new 3 Series sports a new design that is younger yet modern, it gets new LED headlamps that have an edgy design, larger kidney grille said to be biggest on the 3-series until now, a new bonnet, new front bumper with arrow surrounds, new L-shaped LED taillamps and new bumpers with arrow surrounds for reflectors. It also gets new 17-inch alloy wheels and dual exhausts.
The interior continues to offer the same luxurious cabin experience with driver focussed dashboard design, however the material quality has been upped and there’s new equipment as well. It now gets new digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, electric sunroof and sport steering wheel with paddle shifters. The new updated touchscreen infortainment system is now 12.3 inch and gains an updated i-drive too. However BMW has added the latest navigation professional and BMW personal assistant to the equipment list.
Standard on the Sport trim is gloss black treatment for the BMW kidney grille, front bumper design elements and side intakes. It also gets side window graphic in aluminium sanitised look, chrome wrapped twin tailpipes, 17-inch v-spoke bi-colour alloy wheels and Sensatec upholstery in black gloss and pearl chrome.
Standard on the luxury trim is chrome finished kidney grille, gloss finish for the b-pillar, window guide and 17-inch alloy wheels. Other kit includes door sill finishers in allumium with BMW designation, high quality leather Vernasca, line specific key with chrome detailing, instrument panel in Sensatec with double stitching and fine wood trim in Ash grey and brown gloss.
Features standard on the M-Sport speced 3-series includes M aerodynamics package, dark shadow metallic treatment for front apron, side sills and rear apron. BMW individual high gloss shadow line, M badging on the sides sport seats for driver and passenger with Vernasca leather, car key with exclusive M designation and 18-inch alloy bi-colour double spoke alloy wheels
Under the hood as we mentioned before, the new 3-series sedan comes with two engine options, a four cylinder petrol 330i and four cylinder 320d diesel. The 330i petrol produces 255 bhp and 400 Nm of torque, while the 320d churns out 188 bhp and 400 Nm of torque.
Transmission options include an eight speed sport automatic as standard on both engines. It also gets cruise control with braking function and rain sensor.The 3-series sedan rivals the Mercedes Benz C-class, Jaguar XE and Audi A4.
