Mahindra has been long testing several models in its line-up; however after several years of testing and extensive road tests, Mahindra has finally taken the wraps off the new Mahindra Thar that’s set for market launch in October.

Now in its second generation, the new Mahindra Thar can be had in two door version and in two trims AX and LX. The AX trim can be had in convertible or hard top version with 16- inch alloy wheels, while the LX is limited to just the hard top and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Talking about the design the new Thar carries forward the boxy rugged profile it had in its first generation, but is now softer, safer and much more liveable. It gets round headlights, classic front grille, squared out daytime running lights and side indicators. There are also new larger side windows, new wheel arches with new alloy wheels, LED taillamps and a chunky rear bumper. The boot however opens in two sections which includes the top glass the opens upwards and the tailgate that opens sideways.
The new generation Mahindra Thar’s interior is fully redesigned and gets a new dashboard that’s modern and sporty. There’s 7.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system, instrument cluster with colour MID screen and steering mounted controls. Mahindra has also engineered roof mounted speakers to add to the rugged appeal of the vehicle altogether.
Another major change to the new Thar’s interior is the second row of seats. The Thar no longer gets the side facing jump seats as in the earlier generation vehicle, it now gets forward facing second row that’s so much more usable in its own and offers plenty of comfort as well.
