Porsche has launched the Cayenne Coupe with a price tag of Rs 1.31 crore and 1.97 crores (ex showroom prices). Buyers can either opt for the Cayenne Coupe or the Cayenne Turbo with V6 and V8 engine options. A sport Chromo package is also offered as standard.
Speaking during the launch event, Pavan Shetty, Director – Porsche India said: “We are delighted to unveil the Cayenne Coupé for the first time here in India. A truly worthy addition, this model offers the option of an extra sporty variant within our SUV range. The Cayenne Coupé also reinforces the evolutionary approach Porsche takes to developing its sports cars for the new era. Inheriting the same technical capabilities implemented in the third generation Cayenne, alongside a sharpened design, the Cayenne Coupé is more progressive, athletic, and emotional in its own right. I have no doubt that this impressive model will generate interest amongst current Porsche owners and enthusiasts alike.”
The Cayenne Coupe shares the same technical attributes evoked by the third generation Cayenne but with sharpened proportions and a dynamically strong roofline. The SUV gets its own styling cues that help differentiate it from the regular Cayenne.
The Cayenne Coupe looks the same upto the A-pillar which is now slimmer in size, however from the b-pillar onwards that things start to change dramatically. The roof drops seamlessly into the boot, while the reformed doors and wings broaden the shoulders by 18mm. The rear registration plate holder has also been shifted to the bumper thus making the vehicle appear more hunkered to the ground.
A panoramic fixed glass roof with 0.92 m2 glazed area is standard on the Cayenne Coupe. While integrated roller blind protects against sun exposure and the cold. Porsche is also offering a contoured carbon roof that is optionally available for the Coupé.
On each Cayenne Coupé model, a fixed roof spoiler is combined with the new adaptive rear spoiler as part of Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA). The spoiler is integrated into the vehicle silhouette and extends by 135 millimetres at speeds of 90 km/h and above, increasing the downforce on the rear axle and thus enhancing driving stability.
The interior of the Cayenne Coupe is the same as the standard Cayenne with the same high quality finish and top notch fit and finish for the materials, however having said that, it does a 2+2 seating individual seats that is exclusive to the Cayenne Coupe. Rear passengers also seat lower by 3cm to offset the effects of a lower roofline.
The Cayenne Coupe like its third generation counterpart comes with a Porsche advanced cockpit and two 7-inch instrument cluster with full HD displays. The HD displays showcase a wide range of information manageable via the multifunction steering wheel. Boot space on the Cayenne Couple stands at 625 litres of luggage space.
Under the hood of Porsche’s new model are a range of engines like the 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 and a top of the line 4.0 litre turbocharged V8. The 3.0 litre V6 produces 335bhp and 450Nm of torque. The higher spec 4.0 litre V8 churns out 542bhp and 770Nm of torque. The German automaker is also offering the Sport Chromo package as standard and further adds to providing boost of speed to the motor.
All Coupe models come wrapped in 20-inch alloy wheels and include more designs that than the third generation Cayenne. Porsche Active suspension management and Power steering plus is also available as standard on the car. The power steering plus tightens up at higher speeds, while at lower speeds the steering loosens up thus assisting in helping with parking and manoeuvring the vehicle.
The Porsche Cayenne Coupe takes on the BMW X6, Mercedes GLE Coupe, and Lamborghini Urus in its competition.
