French car maker Renault had at the time of the Triber announced that the brand would also very positively develop a compact SUV as well. Contrary to those claims and with an Auto Expo Auto Expo unveil expected the HBC compact SUV has made its first public appearance in testing phase.
The Renault HBC will be a sub four metre SUV that will be underpinned by the same CMF-A platform that serves the base for the Triber and Kwid currently. The HBC is expected to rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford Ecosport, Tata Nexon and the Mahindra XUV 3OO, while it also takes on the upcoming Kia compact SUV.
Coming back the Spyshots, the HBC seems to have an interesting design shape, which is more inclined to a crossover than an outright boxy SUV. This is particularly true at the back where bits like the steeply raked rear glass and bulging out tailgate is visible. Further adding muscle to the SUV are the massive haunches that should look interesting in SUV flavour. It also gets split headlamp setup like the Kwid and 16-inch alloy wheels.
Though the interior has not been revealed, we safely expect much of the cabin design to be shared with the Triber. However looking at how far the wheels of the car have been pushed out, a roomy interior is very much expected with good headroom as well.
Power for the HBC compact SUV will come from a 1.0 litre three cylinder turbo petrol engine that will produce healthy power and torque figurers. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual, while AMT should most likely be also offered. There is no news of the diesel motor for now.
