Renault has announced that it will officially begin accepting bookings for the Triber on the 17th of August. Customers can make an initial payment of Rs 11.000, while bookings can be made online at https://triber.renault.co.in or at the nearest Renault dealership.
The French auto-maker has also commenced production of the Triber at its manufacturing facility in Chennai. Deliveries the company says have already begun at all of the company’s 350 dealerships across India.
“India is a key market for Groupe Renault. We have a clear objective and strategy to accelerate our expansion in India, by doubling the sales volume to 200,000 units annually over the next three years. Renault TRIBER will play an important role in our expansion plans and will set new benchmarks in terms of space and modularity. Renault TRIBER is targeted at a wide set of customers across segments, led by the B-segment. Renault TRIBER brings to the fore the expertise of our thorough customer understanding, ingenious engineering capability, deep design expertise and strong manufacturing competencies. Renault TRIBER offers Renault’s contemporary design, modern features, unmatched space, roominess and versatility. With the opening of bookings today, we look forward to welcoming more customers to the Renault family,” said Venkatram Mamillapalle, Country CEO & Managing Director, Renault India Operations.
The Triber is armed with a spacious, ultra modular, fuel efficient vehicle with attractive modern interior and practical features all packaged in less than 4-metres in length. The design seeks inspiration from the design language adopted by the newer Renault models like the Captur. The Triber also gets an interior unseen on a Renault model, with high quality materials and dedicated A/C vents for the second and third row. Also on offer will be 100 various seat configurations easy fix seats and removable third row.
Mechanically the Triber will be powered by a three cylinder petrol engine that will produce 72PS and 96Nm of torque and come mated to 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options. Renault says the motor will deliver an economical combination of good mileage and produces high torque at low rpms.
Renault is expected to price the Triber in the price range of Rs 5-8 lakhs (ex showroom prices)*. This puts it straight into the Datsun Go+ when we talk about competition which is the only other compact MPV on sale currently.
