Tata Motors may have had a massive display of models at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo with a wide array of models showcased in both private and commercial segments. However what was a secret to many came to be revealed as the Sierra EV concept.
Yes, it’s true the much loved and desired Sierra brand is coming back and it won’t just be modern car with a legendry nameplate. The design of the Sierra concept takes a lot of inspiration from the now dead Sierra car.
Infact the concept version showcased had a large glasshouse at the rear and a three door setup, both of which easily date back to the legend of the past. There’s also good use of body cladding and thick skid plates all around the car adding to the SUV appeal.
Nevertheless coming to the Sierra of the modern times there’s plenty of modern touches like sleek daytime running lights upfront which are connected by a slim chrome strip, ice cube like fog lamp housings in the bumper, flush mounted door handles, sqaurish wheel arches with chunky alloy wheels and a connected light bar that flows into the sides of the car.
The interior of the concept has an airy feel to it and has a suite like seating configuration with a wraparound rear seat. It also comes with a neat look dashboard with top notch materials.
Underpinned by a modern and now well known Alfa architecture platform, the Sierra concept comes powered by an EV motor, while a petro/diesel powered variant cannot be ruled out. Sadly specifications about the EV motor are still scare and under wraps.
The Sierra EV concept may have just been a design study and a one off concept meant to gauge response from the crowds of different kinds that visit the Auto Expo. However the immensely tremendous response evoked for the much loved SUV brand may just prompt the automaker to put it into production sometime soon and until that happens we just can’t wait…
