Toyota has launched a new entry level base trim for the Glanza hatchback priced at Rs 6.98 lakhs (ex showroom prices). Toyota says the base trim has been introduced as the Glanza has attracted many first time buyers into its showrooms.
The new G MT trim of the Glanza is however equivalent to the G MT smart hybrid trim of the Glanza and so it carries the same list of features as well. Features such as LED projector headlamps, chrome grille, diamond cut alloy wheels; LED combination taillamps, steering mounted controls and touchscreen infortainment system with Apple CarPlay along and Android Auto are available on the new variant as well.
However the biggest difference here is with the Smart hybrid tech which has been omitted from the car in favour of a juicer price tag. Hence it misses out on idle start/stop, torque assist and brake regeneration which are all part of the Smart hybrid tech.
Powering the car is the same BS6 complaint 1.2 litre petrol engine which produces 82bhp at 6,000rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 4,200rpm.Transmission duties are handled by a manual gearbox only, while fuel economy figures stand at 21.01kmpl against 23.87kmpl in the G smart hybrid tech equipeied car.
The Toyota Glanza goes up against the likes of its own rival in chief the Maruti Suzuki Baleno along with Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo.
