The Toyota Yaris has been on sale in India for sometime now, however the sedan has got a facelift globally that has just been revealed in the Philippines.
Buyers can choose between nine variants – G MT, G CVT E MT, E CVT, XLE MT, XLE CVT, XE CVT and J MT. 5 paint schemes are also on offer these include Black, Super Red, Grayish blue, White pearl and Alumina Jade Metallic
The new Yaris facelift packs in an updated design with new front end, it gets a new front grille along with a new air dam and bumper. The bumper gets new C-shaped sharp looking fog light housings on either side. Other changes include new 16-inch alloy wheels and mildly updated rear bumper.
Toyota has also introduced LED lighting in the updated Yaris, you get LED lights at the front which is a 3 tier unit, LED daytime running lights, LED fog lights and LED combination lights at the rear.
The inside is pretty much the same as the earlier Yaris; you still get the same spacious interior. A new addition however is the new touchscreen infotainment system; it comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In terms of features, the Yaris continues to offer cruise control, push button start//stop and automatic climate control.
Powering the car is the same 1.3 litre & 1.5 litre petrol engines, the 1.3 litre motor puts out 97bhp and 123 Nm of torque, while the larger in capacity 1.5 produces 105bhp and 140Nm of torque. Transmission options too are the same with 5-speed manual and 7-step CVT automatic that also comes with paddle shifters.
Although the Yaris has been on sale for quite sometime now, 2018 to be precise, Toyota has no plans for the time being on bringing the Yaris in its updated avatar to the Indian market. The Japanese automaker however is working on a sub 4 metre compact SUV that will be based off the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza that will hit the roads by the festive season.
