Volkswagen has launched the new updated Polo and Vento in Goa priced at Rs 5.82 lakhs and Rs 8.76 lakhs respectively (ex showroom prices). The new 2019 editions sport minor design updates and updated safety equipment.

New on the 2019 Polo are the honeycomb front grill, air dam, and a chrome strip at the bottom, while blacked out headlamps mildly refreshed front and rear bumpers and GTI inspired taillamps are also part of the refresh. The car also gets new gunmetal finish alloy wheels, while a new Sunshine red colour option in addition to the existing paint schemes available on the cars.
Changes on the new Vento are almost similar with an updated black mesh grille and gunmetal finish for the alloy wheels. What are different though are the new LED headlamps and black housings for the projector fog lamps.
Both cars continue largely unchanged on the inside and continue with the rock solid feel. Features and equipment also remain the same; however VW has now added a new Volkswagen Connect feature as standard on the Highline trim.

The Volkswagen Connect connects to the owners Smartphone and functions as a dongle based unit and can be used in any VW car. The German automaker is offering the connect system with 4-year warranty on petrol and 5-year warranty on diesel cars.
Mechanically the Polo and Vento updates come powered by the same engines. The Polo’s 1.0 litre petrol motor still makes 75bhp and 95 Nm of torque, while the 1.5 litre diesel puts out 89bhp and 109Nm of torque. Transmission options include 5-speed manual as standard. Also on offer is a 1.2 litre 4-cylinder TSI motor that puts out 104bhp and 175 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.
The Vento comes strapped with 1.2 litre petrol churning out 105bhp and 175Nm of torque, while the 1.5 litre TDI diesel 108bhp and 250 Nm of torque. The 1.6 litre petrol also continues to be on sale and produces 103bhp and 105Nm of torque. Transmission options include –speed gearbox as standard.
The new Polo goes up against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Hyundai Elite i20, Ford Figo and Honda Jazz. The Vento rivals the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Toyota Yaris and Skoda Rapid.
Volkswagen has also once again shifted its showroom to Porvorim; the new address now stands to be where the earlier Chevrolet showroom once existed. However while speaking to Auto Goa the dealer Mody Auto Corp has cited the improved ambience and loads of space available at the new premises over the cramped and congested old premises at Panjim. The service centre still counties to remain at Verna industrial estate though unchanged.
