The 5th edition of the Rain forest challenge is all set to take off tomorrow with a total of 39 teams participating from across India including two women teams. The first set of special stages will be held at DOT village at Kunbhari Taluka of Sanguem on 22nd and 23rd of July.
The competition convoy will than move on to the next location to Suquerbag in Quepem on 24rd and 25th of July, where special stages will be held, while on 26th and 27th of July the RFC convoy will drive down to Green hills Agri farm in Maina Quepem before eventually coming to an end by culminating at Rajiv Ghandi IT habitat at Dona Paula.
The tracks will be specially laid out with the participants ready to roar at the country’s annual off-roading extravaganza. The competition will be spread across 26 Special stages and will be based on a point system that will test the driving capability of the contestants, recovery skills, physical and metal endurance under extreme off-road conditions. The participants will earn points on successful competition of the stages. However penalties will be incurred in the case of not being able to complete a task and causing environmental damage and not adhering to the rules.
Speaking at a press conference, ‘’Cougar Motorsport’s Founder and Director Mr Ashish Gupta said ‘’ This year we have the first ever participation from the North East, Goa being the host state is sending is sending its largest ever squad; with a record 10 teams participating from Kerala which is the highest number of teams participating from any states ever. We are always delighted to grow and are delighted to welcome an all ladies team after a gap of four years.
The interest in RFC India among Indian off-roaders which supersedes all boundaries of age, gender, religion, proves that we have been very successful in our quest of uniting the best off-roading talent of India on a single platform. It is great to see the growth of this sport in just 5-years. This year’s RFC will also see the participation of 13 rookie drivers with one of them being 18 years old. This speaks volumes about the sustainability of the competition in the country’s context and our determination to develop Indian motorsport at large. ‘’

This year’s RFC will see 39 teams consisting of driver and co-driver battle it out against each other. The top winner of the competition will be getting monetary benefits worth USD 10,000 including a free automatic entry worth 3,900 to the Rain Forest Challenge Global Series finale to be held in Malaysia at the end of the year.
